The Australian media and communications regulator ACMA has passed rules for telecoms providers, to ensure a smooth migration toward services provided through the National Broadband Network (NBN). These rules are the final piece of a package adopted by ACMA after it had found that almost one in six households moving to an NBN service was left without a working connection for more than a week. The rules oblige telcos to: enhance consumer information; test the functioning of the new NBN service; provide an interim service in case of delays; and resolve complaints more swiftly, involving upstream providers.
