The Italian regulator has amended the rules it had first passed in 2013 to protect copyrighted content online.
What’s new? The amended rules now include precautionary measures, as well as action to prevent repeated violations. AGCOM will now be able to issue temporary measures within three days of receiving a notice of violation; it can also require ISPs to take action to avoid repetitions of verified breaches. The regulator will update a list of inhibited websites, and be able to issue notice and take-down orders to avoid the re-upload of removed content.
Who’s affected? Under the new rules, ISPs have more to do to tackle the illegal dissemination of content. They are still seen as not legally responsible for such dissemination though.
