The Italian regulatory authority AGCOM, which oversees the postal sector as well as communications markets, has ruled a total fine of €300k to companies of the Amazon group (€50k to Amazon Italia Logistica; €100k to Amazon Italia Transport; and €150k to Amazon Italia Service, respectively). AGCOM had started the inquiry in March, and found that Amazon carries out postal activities within the chain of its e-commerce business. As a result, AGCOM issued the highest fine possible for operating postal activities without a licence. On the same day, AGCOM also launched a review of the market for parcel delivery services, to assess its current and prospective competitiveness.
