The auction of spectrum in the 700MHz, 3.7GHz, and 26GHz bands has raised €2.99bn after the second day of competitive bidding. Operators are now competing mainly on the blocks in the 3.7GHz band, after all the 700MHz lots were awarded earlier in the week. The amount raised until now has already exceeded the government’s initial target of €2.5bn. A new round of bidding is scheduled for 11am on Monday 17 September. The auction started on 10 September, and sees Iliad Italia, Fastweb, Wind 3, Vodafone, and Telecom Italia taking part. Linkem and Open Fiber did not bid from day 1, despite being admitted to the contest.
